• Re-cut each stem 2 cm at an angle as soon as it arrives, and place in clean, cool water.
• Change the water every two days and rinse the vase — bacteria, not age, is what wilts a bouquet.
• Keep it away from direct sun, air-conditioning vents and the fruit bowl (ripening fruit releases ethylene).
• Remove any leaf that sits below the waterline and lift out individual stems as they tire.
